What film did you recently see ? Do not forget to rate it

The only role Tom cruise was ever good in was his role in Tropic Thunder. And maybe yelling PENIS PENIS PENIS in Born on the Fourth of July. Other than that....meh.

The closest he got to real acting was Vanilla Sky and War Of The Worlds.

I thought he was really good in The Last Samurai too.

Inception - 9.0 (possibly an 8.5 but I'll have to see it again to render a final verdict.)

Enjoyed it quite a lot, but MAN this is not a film to see after you've had a few drinks. Really forces you to keep up, even though they lay everything out quite clearly. Riveting, though. Loved the ensemble (even if they weren't terribly fleshed out --my wife's complaint, whereas I would argue that character often takes a back seat to plot in such films.) I also had a bit of a disconnect with Marion Cotillard's character & purpose, though the irony of a hardcore RL conspiracy theorist, cast in the role of someone who becomes convinced that all reality is a dream...that was exquisite.

Toy Story 3. Not only a good children's film, a good film period. A really fitting goodbye to Woody, Buzz and Co. Also, Totoro cameo! 9.5 llamas out of 10 llamas.

The A Team 4/5

For most of the film fairly good retelling of the show, then Hannible goes emo and Face has to take over, Peppard will be rolling in his grave.

Scott Pilgrim: extremely funny and entertaining. It's a shame it tanked, but is worth watching. Similar to Zombieland in its multimedia, comic-book/video game style of storytelling. IMHO much more clever a trick than the current glut of "3-d" efforts being shoved down our throats...

call it 8/10 for several gut busting laughs.

Snow Walker
2003 movie
good story, surprising, cared about the characters

Recommended for those times when a person has had enough of 3-D, special effects, action, blood, guts and gore, and wants a good story.
A+

Clash of the Titans 2010 version

0/10

terrible.

Just terrible.

The characters were cardboard cutouts. They really had no depth whatsoever. Watchihg Voldemort play Hades was painful. The CGI may have been top-notch, but wow... the constant use of it was just annoying. Nothing about this movie was redeeming. My opinion isn't because I'm a fan of the original Harryhausen movie, but because I'm an avid film watcher, and this was total crap. I can love some movies that aren't good. This wasn't one of those.

Neeson trying to do Zeus as a followup to Olivier's Zeus was clumsy and just plain bad.

"You're the son of Zeus, after all!"

*puke*

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

5/10

It's a Disney movie based on a video game. It's not the most creative movie I've ever seen as far as plot goes. The characters were slightly cliche without being over the top, and the action sequences were half-decent - though the wire stunts were a bit obvious at points. Overall it was fun to watch and it was cute enough to keep me watching to the end.

Splice.

Decent.

6/10 + 1 for not being a Species clone although it could have = 7/10.

Fuck. I was supposed to post the above as Marquis De Sade.

shitfuckdamn

kthnx im out.

15-20 Minutes of Scott Pilgram while waiting for Expendables. SP sucked balls, though it was "cute" Expendables was good, a lot of violence for the sake of violence and old actors trying to prove they are still the shit, which they might be just a little bit. Enjoyed watching them.
The American-WTF? I watched a guy assemble a gun for an hour and a half. Fun Movie! [/sarcasm]

The girl with the dragon tattoo

8/10 Was a good film, will watch the others; apparently vry good film adaption from the book.

so.... who posted with my accnt up thar?

Resident Evil: Afterlife - 3D

I'm a fan of Milla Jovovich. Yes, she is a skinny person but, unlike Angelina Jolie, I really do believe her character is invincible and kick ass because she is a sci-fi character that has been altered through science to be super strong, super fast, heal quickly, and be awesome warrior.

As gory as this story can be at times, I also like the overall premise and generally empathize with the lead characters in each movie.

So, I should have really, really, really liked this movie.

There were parts that were really good. The guy with the big iron mallet was sufficiently scary - just as he was in Silent Hill. The new breed of undead are stupid. I didn't like that stupid special effect when it was introduced into the Blade movies and I don't like it any better now. It is stupid and does not make the killer thing more scary. If it were to attack me with that stupid split head wide open and teeth flex at me effect, I would first laugh then I would kill that stupid morphing thing with my bare hands. Then I would spit down its stupid throat and call it mean and vulgar names.

Seems that all those Alice's from the end of the last movie were wasted too. Don't know how though.

Lots of story threads left dangling too. There will be a 5th movie. I hate it when a movie isn't good enough to stand alone by itself. Yes - I like sequels - but I like them when the sequel is a new chapter in the story, not just more of the same chapter.

Still, I love Alice and I will watch the fifth movie when it comes out. Hopefully it will be better than this B movie.

Caught two relatively obscure ones on cable recently:

Dersu Uzala (1975) - Kurosawa flick I'd never heard of about a Goldi nomad who encounters a turn-of-the-century Russian surveying expedition out in the middle of Siberian nowhere and befriends their captain. Luscious cinematography, good story; kind of fizzles into a downbeat ending. 8/10

Caché ("Hidden" -2005) Brilliant flick about a well-to-do couple in France being stalked by an unknown nemesis who keeps leaving them creepy videos and drawn pictures. Unfortunately it's very nearly destroyed by an idiotically postmodern "limbo" ending...fuck the French and their fucking Frenchiness. 6.5/10
