Loyd entered Sunday's game eight points behind former teammate Breanna Stewart, who had scored nine earlier in the day. Less than four minutes into the Storm's eventual 91-89 loss, Loyd passed Stewart with a step-back 3-pointer.
Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner want to return to Mercury in 2024
Taurasi missed 14 games due to injuries, the most recent due to her toe. Her last game was Aug. 29, when she played just over 13 minutes. - Griner, who turns 33 in October, is an unrestricted free agent but said she has no thoughts of playing anywhere but Phoenix, where she has spent her 10-season WNBA career.
Liberty GM Jonathan Kolb named WNBA Executive of the Year
The Liberty's 32-8 record marks their best winning percentage in franchise history (.800), a drastic turnaround considering they aren't far removed from a 2-20 campaign in 2020 after Ionescu suffered an early season-ending ankle injury.
The league also set new highs across its digital platforms, social media engagement and sports betting. The number of bets and amount wagered doubled from last year. The WNBA media rights deal with ESPN is up in 2025.

Aces star A'ja Wilson wins second straight DPOY award
Wilson led the WNBA this season with a career-high 2.23 blocks per game. She ranked third in defensive rebounds per game (7.5) and was 10th in steals per game (1.4). She is the eighth player in league history to win the award more than once.

WNBA semifinals: Aces, Liberty remain on a collision course
The defending champion Aces are six wins away from becoming the first WNBA team to repeat since the 2001-02 Los Angeles Sparks, while the Liberty and Sun are two of three active franchises that have never won a WNBA title. The Wings franchise won three titles when it was located in Detroit as the Shock, but it has not gotten close to reaching those heights in Tulsa or Dallas.
Liberty's Breanna Stewart named WNBA MVP for 2023 season
It is the second MVP award for Stewart, who won her first in 2018 while playing for the Seattle Storm in just her third season in the pros. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick is the eighth player in league history to win multiple MVP awards, the fourth player to win it in their first season with a franchise and the second player to win MVP with multiple franchises.
