Why are they so militarily powerful? Aside from the corrupt Sunni states (Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc) providing funds to Anti Assad militias one of the main reasons they have suddenly become powerful from a military perspective is the massive amount of weapons we have pumped into Iraq. They ride around in Humvees and we don't seem to question why.
The baathists rely upon the encouragement of groups like IS to do their ugly work and yes this is all the result of the deals Zionists - who are very diff from the Israeli, Jew or hybrid which desires a homeland. Zionist politics has created this situation from all corners of the world and their loyalties are to Russia and Assad/Syria, and when these powers finally betray and turn on Israel to wipe it out will be the only time Israel will act on what it knows and will probably nuke Damascus in the panic.
The baathists have been permitted to do what they do by the world, because they have assisted the success of Zionist politics. All of it will be exposed and fall open to fuel new attacks and all kinds of armies are going to be trying to smash Israel once this war gets going.
Israel has turned its backs on the massacres of Christians, Druze, Kurd, Yazi etc since the zionist politics gained power after the instillation of Israel, which was kind of a miracle but also a hijacked, manufactured one to feed the cause of the zionist politicians. And so to maintain the 'miracle' state they agreed to igore the continued genocide and massacres of elderly, women, children and their defenders of fighting age, which has been happening in a non stop cycle since the creation of Israel.
What kind of God requires this blood shed and deaths in order to keep the miracle alive for Israel to stand? What kind of God required the bloodshed of children to keep performing like a circus animal? Look at the western interests and support for this ancient, evil, sacrificial magic - the same sacrificial - entitled shit as Assad operates by, who btw believes himself to be a super human and has divine right to rule the region and the bloodshed is required to maintain his rulership - and his fans chant this on the streets.

Yesterday it was Christians, today its the Kurds and tomorrow it will be another - this is how the mid east has always run under the baatthists and they will not hand over power and control of the entire region without a fight. I know people who had been living as a banned geneology and faith system until 2005 and who have needed to rely on US weapons supplies to survive. I know the US has been helping the Kurds for a very long time and they took their sweet ass time in being open about it, now the civilians are being informed of the reality they are all up in arms and defending those who commit ethnic cleansing.
This program of following is allowing all those sleeper fuckers to remain hidden, protected and sourcing funds and political support to further their agendas. The mega churches and their pet politicians still get to remain hidden with their baathist allegiances and the game continues on, at least informing the public of who they are working for may flush out some and break some allegiances for when the battle gets close.
