Star Trek 12 news/countdown thread

I FINALLY caught STiD today:cool:

I didn't think it was half-bad. It has its pros & Khans (pun FULLY intended:biggrin: ). It was better than the first one.

If any'all haven't caught it yet, y'all ought to do that BEFORE it warps out of movie houses, which might be TOMORROW in many theaters.

Why didn't &/or couldn't Alice Eve fake an American accent in STiD:phpquestion: Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with her sexy UK babe accent.

SOME GRIPES:

* Benedict Cucumberbatch DIDN'T have to Khan 2.0. He could've been ANY of the other 71 superpeople & the story wouldn't have been any the wiser:shrug:

Would've made NO difference/NO qualitative effect. Spock Nimoy's advice would STILL have been THE SAME.

* Robocop and Alice Eve DIDN'T have to be the Marcuses. More needless tying-in to TWOK.

IE:
They could've been the Kodoses. In the Abramsverse perhaps Kodos [became Anton Karidian in the Primeverse] ended up becoming a Starfleet Admiral instead of Pol Pot 2.0.

Plus Lenoir, or was it Lenore Kodos [Karidian in the Primeverse] had a semi quasi-UKish sounding voice, despite Barbara Anderson being an American from Brooklyn, so Alice Eve's UK voice not that much of a stretch here.

Plus no Kodos the Executioner in the Abramsverse due to Kodos becoming an Admiral, with daughter scientist would show (would've shown) how GREATLY the timelines/realities/universes have diverged in other ways besides simply Vulcan having been blown up real good by Nemo.

Imo Khan is really gimmicKHAN in STiD. Or call him SherlocKHAN if you want given BC's other nustuff. And the Marcuses, being the Marcuses, likewise, were a gimmick.

The Marcuses could also have been the Dehners. Sally Kellerman, despite being an American from L.A. County, has a semi quasi-UKishy (twang in/to her) voice, so there again Alice Eve would've fit greatly. Alice Eve had Dehner's hair, despite NOT playing her.

Or maybe Alice Eve and Robocop could've been [your thoughts here].

The late Jonathan Harris was another one with a semi quasi-UKish voice, despite, like Barbara Anderson, being an American from Brooklyn.

I actually quite like the Klingon ships. They could've done something more interesting with the cockpit area, and like most things in the movie it looks more like it's been designed to look cool, rather than functional, but they wouldn't look out of place in the PROPER Trek universe.

Interesting to see that the men rappelled from little holes in the bottom. Didn't notice that at the time.
