Where is the Random Thread of Randomness stuff that doesn't belong in other threads thread?

I just had a moment that perfectly illustrates how my brain is wired up: If you put a gun to my head I could not remember the name of my neighbor from across the street but just now the complete lyrics to the early 1980s novelty song "The Curly Shuffle" popped into my head. I need a better cranial filing system.
 
When I moved here in 2017 I spent...we'll say 30 minutes in a conference room with the sellers, the attorneys, etc, doing the closing paperwork. 3 years later I was out walking my old dog and a schoolbus driver stops, opens the door, and addresses me by name. It was the husband of the couple who sold me the house. How...the sale was in August. This was in winter years later, so I was bundled up. How did this guy not only remember my name but actually recognize me?! I moved from that house over 4 years ago. An old neighbor down the block is an usher at my church and always welcomes me by name and I just have no idea what his name is anymore. For that matter there's a woman I don't even remember but must have sat next to at a charity chicken dinner who remembers my name. Meanwhile, the guy who lives across the street that I talk to semi-regularly and we always wave at each other when we're out remembers my name and I'm like "Hi guy who kind of reminds me of Chris Elliot."

I'm a horrible, horrible person.
 
I don't know which is more entertaining/unsettling: When I'll be watching "Jeopardy!" and I'm absolutely stumped on a clue that all the contestants find easy, when I'm watching and they're all stumped by a clue that I find easy, or when I'm watching and they're all stumped by a clue that I find easy--but then find out I'm utterly totally wrong about.

I love the feeling of superiority when I ace a category that completely stumps them all, like 80s music or theater plays/musicals.

I'm usually alone when I watch, and I usually call them the R-word at these moments. Feels good NGL.
 
It's so hot and cold these days. One night I'll just smoke the entire board and another night I'll just sit there mute while they rattle off answers. Then there are the "answers" where I know I know the "question" but I can't access that file in a timely manner: "The fitness club known for its 'judgement free zone'." "OOH! The sign is purple with a big yellow cog. It's just up the road from my bank. Not Gold's. Not Bally's. ..." "What is 'Planet Fitness, Ken." "FUCK!"
 
My biggest peeve is that the show is still overly obsessed with 1) the 19th century and 2) the Bible.

Also that the Final Jeopardy category is never fun anymore. No Oscars or TV, it's always history or 19th Century Something...

Otherwise I love Ken as host, and I love Celebrity Jeopardy at night (that's when the fun categories return). But Pop Culture Jeopardy with Colin Jost is an abomination, and must be destroyed. It's just seven kinds of awful.
 
I don't think I've really watched Jeopardy much since the revolving wheel of hosts happened a few years ago. Plus, it's typically on in my local market while I'm still at work (3pm I think?). What I have seen of it Ken is a good host though.

Well I'll knock that off my list of places I've always wanted to go at least once.

(Actually I think I did go once and it wasn't as exciting as I wanted it to be and the food wasn't that great)
 
There actually was one down the road when I moved here in 2017. It's a used car lot now. I did go to it once for old time's sake, and man, was it old time's sake. I kind of wish McDonald's was more like it was in the 70s and 80s. And I like a lot of things from the end of the 20th century, but that's really where you need to be to experience Hooters. I'm trying to find the words to convey the feeling, but it escapes me. The closest I can come is--and walk with me on this--a KKK rally. I'm not condoning the KKK, but if you were in Alabama on a July night it would fit in. It would be wrong but it would feel like it belonged. Today it would just be...you know. That's a bit what being in a Hooters circa 2018 was like. Or the Ford Model T. That's probably a better analogy. Today they change car styles every year or two. Ford built the Model T for a quarter of a century. You could buy a (I dunno what years they were made) 1925 Model T and take parts off it to bolt right onto your 1901 Model T. That's what being in a Hooters in 2018 felt like.

Those are some crazy analogies! Trying (and struggling) to make the connections but I appreciate the attempts! :)
I remember a lot of women being horribly outraged by Hooters. It was a glaring insult to feminists when they started operating. I was either too young to care or just didn’t care cuz, yeah. Don’t remember caring much. :\
 
Today I knew my dog was in the next room and needed to be let out (in spite of nasty weather) because I know I had not been farting yet the smell hitting my nose... Yeesh. Silent but deadly.
 
Dogs and home exercise is never boring. My old dog would get very agitated if I did pullups. She'd stand there and bark the whole time. My old roommate's golden would try to participate in situps/crunches--i.e. play/wrestle. The current dog is pretty tolerant by comparison but I had to come over here and comment because I was just doing calisthenics in the same room as her and she was just laying there, staring at me like "WHAT THE HELL?"
