Star Trek 13 News/Countdown Thread

Generations is a bit misleading, as it makes it sounds like you could expect the TOS crew and TNG crew working together, rather than a cameo by three of them in the first five minutes, and Kirk being alone with Picard for the last ten.

Come on, who didn't wonder "who would win in a horse race, Kirk or Picard?" from the moment TNG debuted?

Maybe Alice's taking her clothes off for no reason scene will be filmed on the last day.

...but he'd be a very low profile choice, and one really more associated with comedy.

"Meesa like this ship!"

Wait. Maybe I'm the only one who's noticed. Let's fix that.

Kirk looks like Captain America.

Looks like shit already. And Paramount shut down their video link. :D

Idris Elba made a confusing statement about his villain.

Idris Elba Meanderingly Describes His Character In Star Trek Beyond | TrekMovie.com

I think ’Star Trek’ has prided themselves as being quite classic when it comes to villains, like ’he’s a guy who wants to end the world,’ there’s no doubt about that. But in this version of the film, there’s a slightly different twist to that. It’s quite an interesting journey, which I think is groundbreaking for the franchise. But, it still keeps with the ’classic bad guy is a classic bad guy’ tone.

Has any Trek villain just been "I want to blow up Earth!" Okay, Nero pretty much was (and actually did literally blow up a planet) and Shinzon I guess though he was supposed to be "deep".

The more I read about this the more it sounds like the most boring thing since the International Tiddlywinks Tournament.

Berman and Braga ruined Star Trek. Then JJ "In The Nowwwwwww!!!1" Abrams wandered up and took a huge, steaming shit on the corpse.

The first JJ movie was good and could have been a fine launching point for a new franchise...then Into Darkness was shit on toast (I realise some people liked STID and I'm not saying those people are dumb!)

No, it was indeed shit. For all the visuals, it was pointless.

Why were Khan's friends in torpedos anyway.

For plot reasons.

Remember how Carol Marcus was RoboCop's daughter for no reason?
